# Connect RevenueCat

> See MRR, revenue, subscriptions and new customers next to your posting activity — in three steps.

Views don't pay the bills. Once RevenueCat is connected, the **Business** panel on your Stratos dashboard shows MRR, revenue, active subscriptions and new customers on the same timeline as your posts — so you can see whether posting weeks are growing weeks.

The connection is **read-only** and takes about two minutes.

## Before you start

* You need a RevenueCat account with at least one **project** (your app). If your app isn't in RevenueCat yet, add it there first — Stratos reads numbers, it can't create them.
* You need to be the project's **owner or admin** to create API keys.

## Step 1 — Open your project's API keys

1. Sign in at [app.revenuecat.com](https://app.revenuecat.com/).
2. Pick the project for your app (top-left project switcher).
3. Go to **Project settings → API keys**.

## Step 2 — Create a secret key just for Stratos

1. Click **+ New secret API key**.
2. Name it `Stratos` so you can recognise (and revoke) it later.
3. Under permissions, give it **Read** on **Charts & metrics** — nothing else. Stratos never needs to write to RevenueCat or see customer data.
4. Click **Generate**. The key starts with `sk_`. **Copy it now** — RevenueCat shows it only once.

<Note>
  Use a **secret** key (`sk_…`), not a public SDK key. Public keys can't read metrics, and Stratos will tell you so if you paste one.
</Note>

## Step 3 — Paste it into Stratos

1. In Stratos, open **Dashboard** and find the **Business** card.
2. Paste the key and click **Connect**.
3. Stratos calls RevenueCat once to verify the key and find your project, then stores the key encrypted. You'll see "Connected — pulling numbers for *Your app*".

Numbers appear within a minute. RevenueCat's store data lags the stores by a day or two, so "today" is usually partial.

## What you'll see

| Metric | What it is |
| - | - |
| **MRR** | Monthly recurring revenue right now, as RevenueCat computes it |
| **Revenue** | Last 28 days |
| **Active subs** | Currently active subscriptions |
| **New customers** | Last 28 days |
| **Posting activity vs new customers** | Your posts and RevenueCat's new customers on one chart |

<Warning>
  Stratos shows correlation, not attribution. Nothing on the dashboard claims that a specific post caused a specific install — RevenueCat doesn't know which post someone saw.
</Warning>

## Disconnecting

Dashboard → Business → **Disconnect**. The key is deleted from Stratos immediately. You can also revoke it on RevenueCat's side at any time (Project settings → API keys → revoke) — Stratos will show the panel as disconnected on its next refresh.

## Troubleshooting

* **"RevenueCat didn't accept that key"** — you pasted a public key, or the secret key lacks Charts & metrics read permission. Create a new secret key with that permission.
* **"That key works, but its RevenueCat account has no projects yet"** — add your app as a project in RevenueCat first.
* **Numbers look a day behind** — that's RevenueCat's store sync cadence, not Stratos.
